The Top 10 “smart” cities

The idea of the “Smart City”, i.e. the connected and accessible city of tomorrow, is one of the most attractive among the experts and lovers of new technologies. The top 10 has also been taken up again by the web site Tapscape.com in a photographic article called “World’s Top10 Smart Cities: the future is here”.

“Smart” city does not mean “digital” city

The concept of “smart city” in the collective imagination refers to the idea of a city founded on the most advanced digital technologies. Michele Vianello, an expert on smart cities, has disagreed. On portal “Pionero” he has suggested us to reflect that a city’s “intelligence” consists in the ability of its inhabitants to create activities and actions having positive impacts on community, regardless of the fact that they are spread or not by the digital system.
