The state of the art of broadband

As is the case every year, the International Telecommunications Union has drawn up a report on the status of broadband, combining its own data with data provided by GSMA, an association that brings together the world’s leading mobile operators. High-speed connections are continuing to grow, especially in developing countries, and play an increasing role in the socio-economic development of the world’s various regions. The smartphone, and more generally, mobile devices, have established themselves at the heart of this digital revolution. Parallel to this, however, is the decline in fixed line connections, signalling a slower and more marginal growth.
