Tunisia and investments for 18-30 year olds: a conference of the Prime Minister

TUNISIA – The government has announced news of the allocation of investments in Tunisia to help those in the 18-30 age range to prosper.

This was announced by Prime Minister Youssef Chahed, who at just 41 years old has been leading the Tunisian executive since the 27th August, alongside the National Youth Congress.

In Tunisia, 18-30 year olds account for 24% of the total population. Unemployment among young diploma holders or graduates is one of Tunisia’s great economic and social challenges. Thousands of young people participated in the drafting of documents that formed the basis of debates during the National Congress to contribute to the development of a national strategy with objectives for 2030.

The National Youth Congress’ initiative was launched by the President of the Republic, Beji Caid Essebsi, on the 14th January during the 5th anniversary of the revolution. 2016 was indeed marked by a sharp decline in overall foreign investments equalling 7%.
