What does “IoT” stand for?

The term IoT, which stands for Internet of Things, is a term we will hear and read about more and more in future.
In the language of telecommunications it means all those devices that in some way perform their functions connected via the Internet.

This means using technologies linked to artificial intelligence, able to react to external stimuli and to behave accordingly, more and more frequently.

David W. Cearley, Research Vice President of Gartner Research Group recently stated that every device and all software will have some form of artificial intelligence embedded into them.
“AI will work behind the scene, performing through various types of software, in forms that are current available or yet to be developed, including ERPs”.

This means that for those who work in development, programming and engineering there is a lot of work to be done, with uncountable possibilities.
Adding value to a given business by integrating intelligent processes is not easy, but it is precisely what the market demands.

The concept of Artificial Intelligence must be perceived as a sort of gap between people and systems, Cearley continued. “The potential is enormous because it can even transform the nature of work and the structure of the working place.”

Moving in this direction will without doubt be a global trend. IoT is already quite present today in a great part of the world, both in consumer and corporate environments. In the (immediate!) future all devices able to be linked to the Internet will more frequently be so as will be businesses which will be able to use intelligent technologies to transform the way they work.

Demand for interconnection by companies will continue to grow in the medium term. The reason for this is the need to adequately compete using direct and safe interconnections, to enable the safe exchange of information.

In parallel to the development of IoT technologies is the importance of cyber security, which you can read about in this article.
